This test is specialized to detect the entire spectrum of known bacteria present in clinical and industrial samples. It offers information about the relative abundance values of each species of bacteria. It provides a more efficient and accurate solution to bacterial detection methods with its rapid turn-around time of 36 hours, with minimum quantity of test sample and transparent approach.
BactFast is currently being utilized for the detection of a wide variety of bacterial infections in patients who are under critical conditions. Its specific uses include detection of bacterial infections in patients diagnosed with Tuberculosis, Meningitis, Salmonella, Whooping cough, Cholera, Influenza, MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Typhoid, Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP), Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI), Catheter associated Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), Diabetic Ulcers and Mixed Infections with unknown etiology.
The standout feature of the test is that it replaces the need for culture-based detection by a more cutting edge technology, which aids in rapid identification and quick results. This culture independent test reduces the chances of the infections intensifying and gives patients a better chance of complete recovery. In addition, the proper diagnosis of infections in a timely manner also ensures that patients don’t receive unnecessary medication that further compromises their health.
The test can be done and results can be delivered within 24 hours of receiving the sample.
BactFast is the trusted solution for the diagnosis of bacterial infections because of its ability to,
- Identify uncultivable species due to its culture independent methodology
- Identify an entire spectrum of known bacteria
- Efficient turn around time
- 92% accuracy and sensitivity
- Availability of relative and comparative analysis
BactFast offers three stages of analysis that help understand bacterial infections more accurately and to decide on appropriate intervention.
- The detection phase uses phylogenetic relationships of the organism to detect and offer information about its metabolism and mechanism of entry and action.
- The test also allows the identification of relative abundance of each species of bacteria which is a completely new introduction to the field.
- Comparative analysis of the sample allows physicians to understand the abundance of the bacteria under specific environmental and therapeutic conditions that facilitates a pre-simulation of the efficacy of different treatments.
The BactFast test follows a simple workflow, which includes DNA extraction from test sample (Blood / FFPE tissue / Industrial samples), DNA amplification with primers specific to 16S region, Library preparation, Template preparation, Sequencing, Data analysis and Reporting.
Conventional bacterial testing takes anywhere between 3 days to 3 weeks to cover all know bacterial organisms. Compared to existing technologies there is also less human intervention thereby decreasing error rates.
